There
is a traditional adage that girls cannot stand each other; and HB
Toxic’s break up goes ahead to confirm that!  Brenda Nambi has gone
ahead to validate a prophecy that I have had at heart for quite some
time, when she said that she is going to focus on a solo career in music
 and fashion.
 The breakup of HB Toxic
follows in the footsteps of Dream Girls, Obsessions, Blu 3, Chilli
Girls and Cyclone (to mention but a few) in as far as the break up trend
 is concerned.
Helen Lukoma and Brenda Nambi HB TOXIC
seceded from Obsessions to form their own duo outfit and together, they
did songs like Nkufeelinga, Going Out Tonight and Mwagalannyo that saw
them win Diva awards best girl group in 2010.
 Helen
Lukoma seems to be putting emphasis on her role as Patra in the local
TV series The Hostel (God Knows why she thinks she can act better than
she sings). Whereas Brenda chooses to go on and concentrate on her
fashion house, Bambi as well as a solo music career (and still only God
knows how far she can go with music).
 All
in all, allow me pause the million dollar question; why do girl groups
lack the chemistry to stay intact? Why can’t girls stand each other?
 A
friend of mine claims that they reach a point where they have out grown
each other and as such, some feel that the others are only thriving on
their talents and becoming parasites.
 The
other theory is that since most girl groups are not so talented and do
mediocre music, it does not bring in enough money to sustain all of
them. But if that were true, Blu 3 would still be together because they
were very talented and making business sense as a group.
 Iryn,
Juliana, Jackie, Cindy and to a small extent Lillian; are some of the
very few female musicians that have successfully moved on beyond their
split groups! The rest usually end up struggling like Leila, Mya, Renah
and the entire Chilli Galz and Cyclone pack.
I am not trying to be a prophet of doom, but I do not see Brenda going any far with music. She has already done a song called GO, featuring Mr. Mosh & Big Trill. The onus is on her to prove me wrong and I will apologize!
Listen to Go song by Brenda Nambi.
 But
until she does so, I will continue to hold firmly onto my pessimistic
feeling that only a miracle can keep Brenda Nambi above water in this
tight music industry of ours.
 Otherwise,
best of luck Brenda. I wish you well and wish you could do well; it’s
just that I think you can’t. But that’s just my opinion, after all who
am I to make such a damning prophecy about your career. Just stay
focused!
