Global Fashion Awards
ALBER ELBAZ took home WGSN's Most Influential Designer prize at the Global Fashion Awards last night, held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Although he couldn't attend the ceremony in person he did offer his take on the Lanvin customer.
"Tomorrow's It-girl could be tomorrow's Out-girl," he says, describing why Lanvin isn't about trends but about making women feel magical.
Elbaz beat off stiff competition from Christopher Bailey, Phoebe Philo and Isabel Marant. Harvey Nichols beat Topshop for Beat Global Retailer, while Acne won Most Influential Design Team. People Tree scooped the Most Influential Fashion Label accolade.
Organised by WGSN and launched this year for the first time, the Global Fashion Awards is a celebration of fashion's most inspirational businesses and individuals from across the world. The event was attended by a host of international industry figures including Harold Tillman, Caroline Rush, Peter Levy and Nicholas Kirkwood.
