Ne-Yo Responds To ‘Atlanta Exes’ Backlash: ‘I’ve Made My Apologies’ .

Screen Shot 2014-08-29 at 7.55.58 AM Monyetta Shaw and NeYo attend Ludaday Bowling event
For some women, reality TV can be a great platform to brand themselves outside of their famous boyfriends and husbands, but there’s always a price…and sometimes it’s their exes that has to pay.
Ne-Yo is learning this the hard way.
Last night, he was spotted at Ludacris’ Ludaday Celebrity Bowling event in Atlanta with his ex-fiancee Monyetta Shaw, who also stars on the new season of VH1′s Atlanta Exes.  Although the former couple looked very chummy, Ne-Yo has been catching a lot of heat from the show’s fans, particularly after the last episode aired.  During the show, it was revealed that Ne-Yo broke up with Monyetta by phone.  She also cried while revealing she wouldn’t be able to have kids if she met a new man because Ne-Yo had talked her into getting her tubes tied during their relationship.
The backlash has been so real that Ne-Yo took to his Instagram to repost this picture quote about nobody being perfect.
Nobody is perfect, and nobody deserves to be perfect. Nobody has it easy, everybody has issues. You never know what people are going through. So pause before you start judging, criticizing, or mocking others. Everybody is fighting their own unique war.
He also captioned the image with this cryptic plea about forgiveness and immaturity along with some shady hashtags.
I’ve made my apologies to the people I feel I wronged. I was forgiven by those people. Anybody else passing judgment on me for my past mistakes and immaturities is more than welcome to it. Your opinion is your own to do with as you please. The ONLY judgment I’m truly concerned with is the ONLY one that matters. Mistakes will be made, that’s human. So again to all the perfect beings out there who feel so worthy to judge my imperfection…..ENJOY THE SHOW. #NowTHATSNonfiction #AtlExes #Vh1 #WatchIt #IfCrucifyingMeMakesYouFeelBetterAboutYouHaveAtIt #ShoutOutToAllTheImperfectPeopleOutThereJustTryingToFigureThisThingCalledLifeOutJustLikeMe
It’s true, no relationship is perfect, but they are definitely making things even more complicated by still living together after the breakup.
Hopefully, some of this stuff is exaggerated for TV. It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out.
In case you missed it, catch our interview with Monyetta Shaw here.

New Music: The Game f/ Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Diddy, Fabolous, Wale, & TGT – ‘Don’t Shoot’

Don't Shoot
The Game stands up to intolerance and racism on the Ferguson anthem “Don’t Shoot,” dedicated to the memory of Mike Brown. The Compton MC brings together the hip-hop community including Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Diddy, Fabolous, Wale, DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, Yo Gotti, Curren$y, Problem, King Pharaoh, and TGT.
The protest song includes powerful verses and a call to action: “Time to take a stand and save our future like we all got shot.”
Game explained how the collaboration came together. “I managed to get everyone on fairly easy, simply because we have hearts,” he said. “We care and are inclined to take a positive approach to resolving an issue that has existed since the beginning of mankind and that’s racism and hatred towards one another as human beings.”
The song is now available on iTunes, with all proceeds benefitting the Justice for Mike Brown charity.

Gabrielle Union Is Getting Married This Weekend…And Essence Atkins Will Be Officiating .

Gabrielle_Union_Essence_Atkins_by_JenniferGray Essence Atkins
The big Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union wedding is going down this Saturday and while we don’t know much about the South Beach ceremony, we do know two things — they’ll be no bridal party and…Essence Atkins is officiating!
This weekend, HipHollywood caught up with the actress at an Emmy pre-party where she revealed her important duties. Apparently, it’ll be a couples thing because both Essence and her husband (whom she met on eharmony) are ordained wedding officiants and will be marrying Dwyane and Gabby. While her husband has officiated weddings before, (most notably Alfonso Ribero’s wedding,) Essence says that this will be her first time.
‘No pressure!!!!’
That droplet of tea is all the tea we’ll be getting, too. In an effort to plug leaks, guests will be ordered to sign confidentiality agreements before arriving at the wedding. Doesn’t matter who they are or their relation to the bride and groom, everyone must sign or be denied entry. Their phones and cameras will also be confiscated at the door.
And if someone does want to talk on what they saw or heard at the wedding, they should probably make sure their pockets are right because penalties are stiff!
In this day and age, we don’t really blame them though. If this policy wasn’t in place, their photos would be circulating the net before the officiators even had a chance to say, ‘You may kiss the bride.’  This puts Gabby and D Wade in control of their big day.
Watch Essence talk about her role in the wedding below:

[On The Scene] Bow Wow & Erica Mena, Nicki Minaj & Casper Smart, And Lionel Richie And His New Younger Boo.

08.26.14-ERICA + BOW WOWShad Moss and Erica Mena are hanging in there.  While Karrueche Tran was being set up for major backlash by a show producer as she filled in as a host on 106 & Park this week, “Bow Wow” was spotted partying it up at Supperclub in Los Angeles with his new “bae” Erica Mena.  The couple seems to be going strong since sharing a kiss on 106 & Park earlier this year, but it’s hard to tell if this is all for publicity, or as real as it gets.
Casper Smart and Nicki Minaj
During this weekend’s MTV VMAs, Jennifer Lopez was caught on camera making some serious shady faces while Nicki Minaj was performing. Perhaps, it could have been her way of critiquing her ex-boo Casper Smart on his new job.  Nicki hired him to be her
choreographer for the night.  The two were spotted backstage together, shortly after she finished up her appearance on stage with Usher. [Whatever happened to Laurieann Gibson??]
Lionel Richie spotted with his new girlfriend
Lionel Richie has a new girlfriend.  And she may be as young as his daughter Nicole!  The 65-year-old was spotted heading into LAX Airport last night while holding tight to his new woman.  Daddy got his groove back!

[Exclusive Interview] Remy Ma Dishes On Adjusting To Life As A Wife & Mother Post-Jail Stint .

Remy Ma and papoose
Where’s Mona? ‘Cause this is the real Love & Hip Hop NY.

Since her release from prison earlier this month, Remy Ma has been spotted everywhere, even snagging some prime music features alongside the likes of Swizz Beatz, DJ Khaled, French Montana and others. But aside from the hardcore raps that she’s best known for, who knew there was a softer side of Rem that gushes at the mention of her husband and is willing to offer up life advice at the expense of her own?
Recently we had an intimate sit-down with the Bronx emcee to discuss her life as a wife and and her many lessons on love. Remy, who credits most of her post-jail relevancy to hubby Papoose, claims he held her down in more ways than one (Papoose was even banned from seeing Remy due to a rumored “key smuggling” incident that Remy later cleared up with us).
Peep what Remy had to say was her most profound lesson from jail and the hardest adjustment she’s had to make as a free woman. And although she’s learned a lesson or two on humility, she also breaks down why she’s still the queen of NY.
Peep the highlights below:
On Adjusting to Being a Wife “Outside of Jail”
It’s really different… The whole being a wife thing, it’s new to everyone else but I had to take on that responsibility for the entire time of my incarceration, which is really hard in a way. It’s one thing if you’re home and you see your husband every day and you’re doing whatever wives do, depending on who you are. Cooking, cleaning, making sure the bed stays warm [but] it’s hard to do that from prison. You feel like, ‘Am I giving my 50 percent in the relationship?’ Am I fulfilling what I said I would in my vows?’ So it’s kind of difficult and as a female you feel a little bit [less] every now and then. But I have such a phenomenal husband that makes sure, you know, that I’m good. I’m happy. [He tells me] ‘And I wouldn’t change you for anybody else ever.’ So it’s a good feeling!
On the first thing she did when she got home
I didn’t get as dolled up as I would’ve liked. I just took a shower without shower shoes on. So, that felt good! [laughs] To actually have your foot on the shower floor without having to super germicide it and make sure you’re not touching anything. But the first thing I did, I took a shower. I got dressed. I had my makeup artist come over and he gave me some lashes and lip glosses and stuff like that. And I just told him that I wanted to keep it as regular as possible. I was so used to not having makeup on and being regular that I didn’t want to rush into that. And after he did that, I rushed to the studio four hours after my release.
Have you enjoyed time with your husband?
I have not had time to enjoy time with anybody. I actually had it mapped out. Part of my plan was for the first week to take off that week and to get things situated with the the family. But when I went to the studio the first day that I came home everyone took it as a disclaimer as to, ‘Ok, this must mean she doesn’t want that week off!’
But you have to be glad that people even want you to do certain things. In this industry, it’s so easy to be not important to people anymore. So you have to take it as it comes to you. And I’m not complaining and I’m very happy and I’m content with everything that’s going on. But do know that no one respected my one week off wish. Just wanna put that out there [laughs]
What is the biggest lesson on love that you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson that I can say, one of the biggest because I’ve learned so many lessons, each person has to give and take the same amount. If there is one person that is more dominant, one person that is giving more than the other person, one person taking more than the other person, it’s not gonna work. It has to literally be 50-50. If not, one may start feeling unappreciated, the other might feel like they’re doing all the work, etc.
I personally think it works well when everyone comes to the table with 100 percent but contribute 50-50 and it’s a give and take on everything.
And you can say you have that in your marriage now?
I definitely have that. And I’m very grateful for that because I don’t think a lot of people probably will ever experience what I have [with Papoose]. Knowing that no matter what, you have somebody that will ride for you and is going to be on your side regardless of anything. And that’s just a good feeling knowing that you can depend on somebody. Not because you’re paying them or because they’re getting fame. Just because they’d genuinely do it and they genuinely love you with all that they have. And when you’re getting that back- there’s nothing like it.
How has being married changed you as an artist and as a woman?
I don’t think it’s changed me much as a woman. I might be a little bit more competitive because I have this A-to-Z alphabetical slaughter guy (Papoose) sitting in my house all day. So I might have to go a little bit harder in certain situations. But as a woman, I guess I have more responsibilities [for] one. You can’t just be moving around crazy because anything I do could reflect on him and make him look a certain way and I would never want to do anything that could harm him or hurt him.
On How Papoose Held Her Down
Besides physically being there, it’s a lot of times where you can’t do anything without someone else doing it for you. If you need food, someone has to go to the supermarket, get it and bring it to you. If you need soap, deodorant, anything that you would need just to survive on a day to day basis, someone has to do it. [My husband] never was like, ‘I need X-Y-Z if you want me to do that.’ Financially he was there. Physically he was there. And also emotionally because you’re traumatized!
When I tell you it’s a very traumatizing situation. Being away from your child. Being away from your parents. And just having to be in the situation that led you to where you are. And to have someone tell you: ‘It’s alright. You will get through this. You’ll be ok, it’s not the end of the world. And you’re still loved and God loves you.’ Like, you need that sometimes. Whether you know it or think you know it.
To have someone tell you it verbally. And not only tell you [but] show you in their actions, it’s like nothing else. Days I was just cried out or super angry, he was there.
On The Rumors that Papoose Tried to Smuggle a Key in During a Visit
That never happened. There was never no key incident. You know how you like, have skeleton keys that are on your keys? It had always been there when he came to visit me. And it just so happen that this one particular time that someone wanted to make a big deal out of it. First of all, I was never even handcuffed on the inside so what would I do with a handcuffs key?
First of all, he would never even do anything that he thinks would jeopardize me and get me into any other trouble than I was already into. So that was totally a false statement. And though he was banned for six months at Rikers Island, when I was transported form Rikers Island jail to Bedford Hills prison, we had actually been given a letter that he was banned from seeing me indefinitely.
So, just getting there and receiving this paper and me thinking that I have to do- until otherwise- eight years and not be able to see my husband, that was devastating. But once again, by the grace of God, after about three months, and us constantly writing and inquiring with lawyers, and just getting the paperwork situated, I was able to see him after three months. But when I got to Bedford and we received that letter that said he could not see me infinitely, that was crazy. And I’m happy that we were able to get through that!
On who else visited her in jail:
It’s a huge list. There were a lot of people. My brothers. My sisters. My friends. There were so many people. I even had people that I didn’t even know that just showed up and I’d come down [to visitation] thinking that ,’Oh, maybe my brother popped up today,’ or something and I’d get to the table… and I’m like, ‘Uh, who are you?”

‘I’m just a really big fan and just wanted to come see you,’ and I’m like, ‘Ok, this is creepy.’ There is no list! A lot of people think that you have to have a pre-made list [to approve visitors] but you really don’t. Anybody really can just come up there. So you know, I’d appreciate it but…. (cuts off into story)-
One time this one girl, she lived all the way in Texas, and I was like, ‘Ok, I really want to leave right now because I’m really uncomfortable. But I feel bad because you came all the way from where you came from.’ And she was like, ‘I’m such a big fan. And I just wanted to come and show my support.’
It’s crazy because I actually ended up staying on the visit with her. She’s like really, really cool and had love for me and respect but it’s just weird. I don’t know. I can’t explain how weird it is sometimes.
Say if you’re at home and someone just came to your house with a basket and a pie like, ‘Oh, I see your pictures online, and I really like you and I just want to let you know that,’ You’d be like, ‘What?!’ So that’s how I felt. It’s flattering but at the same time I was thinking, ‘Ok, do I have to really be more cautious?’
On the Hardest Adjustment Since Returning Home
Just getting to know certain family members and certain friends. It’s different when you’re talking to them on the phone or they come to see you on a visit for a couple of hours. But you don’t get to see the actual personality of somebody.
Like for instance, my son is probably like the biggest one that is so shocking. When I left, he was seven years old. He’s 14 now. And he’s a totally different person. And I saw him throughout my entire incarceration but when he’s actually in the house and I watch him from waking up to when he goes to bed at night, I’m like ‘Whoa, I have to get to know this new person that’s in my house. Like, who is this guy? Who is he?’ I think that’s probably the hardest thing because when I look at it like that, I have to think about all the time that I’ve missed. I missed this evolution that brought him from point ‘A’ to where he is now. That’s probably like the hardest thing. Because it’s hurtful.
Why do you think there has been as much anticipation for your return to music?
I do believe that I had a super cheerleader in my husband. And he made sure people did keep my name on their lips. And my story wasn’t done yet. God didn’t want my story to end the way people thought it would end. Or the way people were hoping it would end…

Like when I left, I was in the middle of doing my album, doing the tour for my album, signing a new record deal and just putting out music. So it wasn’t like I left on a low note. I left in the middle of doing everything I had dreamed about for years.
I think people wanted to probably see how my story would need. So that might explain some of the anticipation on my behalf.
On What Makes Her the “Queen of NY.”
When I initially started saying that years ago, it’s because I sat down and I realized I’ve lived in every single borough. Even Staten Island- no offense-but Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx. I’ve lived in every borough. So I really run New York, like I’ve been in every single area.
But when I’m on my ‘Remy Ma’ wave, and [saying] ‘The Ruler’s Back,’ it’s like, why would I say, ‘The second person in command is back? Third person. 1 out of 3, you take your pick and you tell me which one you think I should be?’ No! Of course I’ma say, ‘That’s me.’ That throne, that crown- that’s me! And anybody feel some type of way in this hip hop thing- it’s cool to be competitive. Alright, prove me wrong. Don’t talk about it. Like, let me hear it. Lay it down.
But at the same time, you don’t have to be so petty and so catty to personally attack any one individual. Because that just makes you corny. And it might- the old me- it might have got you beat up. But the new me, I’m just like, “A’ight.’ [big smile].

Alfre Woodard, Laverne Cox, Nicole Beharie, & Danai Gurira Cover Essence Magazine .

Essence Magazine
People are always saying they would love to see some new faces on the cover of magazines, and Essence magazine has heard their cry loud and clear. For their 2014 October issue, Essence is giving nods to the shift going on in black Hollywood by featuring new rising stars including Laverne Cox (from Emmy-nominated series Orange is the New Black), Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow), and Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead).  They also round out the cover with veteran actress Alfre Woodard (State of Affairs), calling them “Channel Changers.”
Inside, the four ladies talk about television being more diverse and how women of color are storming networks because of talent and persistence.
Catch what they had to say below:
Danai: “It is a golden age. because we’re allowed to see that more people are given a voice, and that is a beautiful thing. We know when there’s been a dearth of this type of diversity. I remember watching Orange and feeling as if something new was happening.”
Laverne: “People are watching television in a different way. I’ve been acting for a very long time and not getting very far, and I would say we needed some sort of systemic revolutionary change for me to have an acting career.”
Alfre: “Is it the golden age, daughters? I want you all to believe: We’re not here because somebody suddenly said, ‘Let’s have some women of color [on TV].’ We’re here because we’re brilliant at what we do. We’re persistent. You could put us at the bottom of the ocean and we’d still come to the top.”
With shows like Scandal making history and pulling in millions of viewers every episode, and proving that America is ready to see more diversity on their favorite shows, it’s going to be amazing to sit back and see more black actresses snag leading roles on television.

Is Cliff Dixon Subliminally Claiming Rihanna?.

Kevin Durant’s friend Cliff Dixon may need to have a “are you, or are you not my baby?” conversation with Rihanna. He is head over heels for that woman and she doesn’t exactly seem to be paying him dust since she’s been snapped in photos with him.
A few months back, it was rumored that the two were dating after they were spotted at a 4th of July pool party followed by an appearance at a nightclub together.   Cliff also repeatedly posted photos of Rihanna with subliminal captions, but when blogs picked up the story that the two may be dating, he quickly shut the rumors down and said he was only a fan of the singer.
Well, he must be a super-duper fan, because this weekend, the former Western Kentucky basketball player flew to Detroit to watch Rihanna close out her last date on the Monster tour and kick it backstage.
He also posted a super cute picture of the two of them smiling and hugged up together with the caption:
Tryna steal my pose huh? You can have it boo you look better doing it anyway [kissing emoji and heart eyes emoji]
But when a commenter called him out on the caption and asked if they were together, he used his favorite line and wrote back, ‘No, I’m just a #fan.”
He did promise another fan that he would treat her right though.

New Music: Nicole Scherzinger – ‘On the Rocks’

On the Rocks
After igniting the dance floor with her first single “Your Love,” Nicole Scherzinger serves up the follow-up “On the Rocks.” On the powerhouse ballad, produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, the former Pussycat Doll laments about a failed relationship and the way to get over it—by pouring up a stiff drink.
“Let’s take a shot, since you’ve been taking shots / And allow me to serve you this drink up on the rocks,” she sings.
Nicole is working with executive producers Tricky Stewart and The-Dream on the follow-up to her 2011 debut Killer Love, which will be released in the U.S. on Epic Records.
“For the first time in my career I feel like this album is me, it’s real,” she said. “It’s a very personal album for me. It is a reflection of the woman I am, the woman I am not, and the woman I want to be.”
Take a shot of Nicole’s new single.

Skin was definitely in last night as celebs took the red carpet of the MTV Video Music Awards.  Some of our favs arrived showing legs, thighs, booty and boobs, while others went for understated looks.

Catch a few of our favorite moments below:
Amber Rose MTV Video Music Awards“Not one single f-ck was given” is what Amber Rose posted on a video of her walking the red carpet yesterday evening.  And that sounds about right!  She had heads turning as she arrived in a custom Laurel DeWitt chain dress while giving off Vegas showgirl realness.  Back in 2010, she wore a similar style dress while attending Paris Fashion Week with her ex.
Rita Ora MTV Video Music AwardsRita Ora ALWAYS looks amazing in red. Last night, she brought fire to the VMAs after arriving in a red Donna Karan Atelier dress which featured a side split that reached her navel.  Makeup, hair, legs…everything. Perfection.
beyonce red carpet 2Alright Beyoncé with the old school club pose! The Queen of the Beyhive shut the red carpet down as she arrived in a Nicolas Jebran Couture last night ahead of her huge performance and acceptance of the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. You can catch video of her fans screaming and crying as she arrived here.

Solange Ariana Grande and ChanelBlack was also the color of the night for Solange, who rocked an ill-fitted disco pantsuit, Ariana Grande who showed up in a Moschino dress and thigh-high boots and Chanel Iman who rocked Balmain.  The verdict on these fits: No, No… Yes.
Extreme sidebar: Did anyone else wonder where Solange was during BeyoncĂ©’s big performance??
j loIt’s hard not to mention that J. Lo is 45 YEARS OLD on any post where she’s shutting the red carpet down.  Last night, she was showing off major body as she arrived in a Charbel Zoe gown and Jimmy Choo pumps, and she looked GOOD!  (This is what a natural booty looks like ladies and gentlemen!)
Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams
Destiny’s Child in the house!  Kelly Rowland hugged her baby bump as she rocked a Kaufman Franco gown, while Michelle Williams opted for Roberto Cavalli.
Kylie Kim and Kendall

It was a family affair for the Kardashian/Jenner clan last night. Kylie Jenner was giving us 17 going on 25 as she rocked an Alexandre Vauthier dress with Gucci heels, while her sister Kim Kardashian looked very Latin in Balmain.  Kendall Jenner, meanwhile, showed off her supermodel figure in a Balmain pantsuit.  The girls are currently catching heat after they were spotted on camera texting and chatting during the Mike Brown/Ferguson memorial.Iggy and Nick Young MTV VMAsIggy Azalea looked like a coke bottle last night while showing off her hourglass figure in an Atelier Versace metallic gown.  She looked great!
nicki minaj and rocsi
Nicki Minaj and Rocsi were golden girls last night.  Nicki Minaj put on her best game face as she walked the carpet in a Saint Laurent animal-print dress with nude pumps, while Rocsi opted for a gold Haute Hippie dress.
Miley and Taylor
Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift made statements on the red carpet. Miley wore a two-piece, black leather, Alexandre Vauthier pantsuit while Taylor Swift showed off legs in a Mary Katrantzou bodysuit.
What were your favorite looks of the night?

Video: Usher f/ Nicki Minaj – ‘She Came to Give It to You’

Usher and Nicki Minaj
Fresh off his white-hot performance at the VMAs, Usher lights up the screen alongside Nicki Minaj in the dance-heavy video for “She Came to Give It to You.”
In the Philip Andelman-directed clip, the R&B superstar takes over an underground club in the back of an electronics store, working up a sweat as he busts some slick moves on the dance floor.
Nicki comes through the after-hours party, dressed to kill in all black, and spits her quirky verse in front of a wall of TV monitors. Plus, don’t miss a cameo from Pharrell, who lurks in the shadows.
The Pharrell-produced song will appear on Usher’s upcoming album UR, due this fall.
Later this year, he will embark on “The UR Experience” world tour, which includes L.A., Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, New Orleans, and New York.

New Music: Brianna Perry – ‘Mackin’ + ‘Me OK (Freestyle)’

Me OK
The YRB strikes again. Brianna Perry comes correct with two new songs, “Mackin” featuring Nehemie and a remix to Jeezy’s “Me OK,” on which she shouts out the incarcerated CTE boss.
“They let Remy out / Turn around pick Jeezy up / When they gon’ let me jump / We’re just tryin’ to get our money up,” she raps.
Brianna can currently be seen alongside Diamond, Siya, Bia, and Nyemiah Supreme on the Oxygen reality series “Sisterhood of Hip-Hop.”

BET and Karrueche Tran Apologize for Blue Ivy Joke

Karrueche Tran
Don’t mess with the BeyHive. BET and Karrueche Tran learned the hard way after a tasteless joke about Blue Ivy aired on “106 & Park,” prompting an apology from both parties.

On Monday, “106 & Park” broadcast a segment on the “top six things Blue Ivy thought about the VMAs.” Chris Brown’s girlfriend Karrueche was co-hosting the show and read the poorly-received joke on-air.
“I really did wake up like this because my parents never combed my hair,” said Karrueche before realizing what she had said. “Sorry, Blue! I love you,” she quickly added.
But it was too late. The BeyHive ripped into her on social media, hurling insults and even death threats her way. Karrueche defended herself, writing, “Now y’all know I LOVE me some BeyoncĂ© and Blue Ivy! I didn’t write this script y’all lol … I am definitely team #BeyHive ❤️.”
A source close to Karrueche tells TMZ that she read the joke cold off a teleprompter. It was in a script that had been changed by producers at the last minute without her knowledge. Since it was a live show, she couldn’t take it back.
After the comment aired, Karrueche and her manager were extremely upset because they thought the joke was mean-spirited and in poor taste.
On Tuesday, she took to Instagram to issue an apology for her part in the joke.
Past two days have been extremely draining.. As I geared up for a big day for myself – hosting a live show.. I never expected things to turn out this way.. I apologize to any and everyone who felt offended in any way by the comments made by BET executed through me.. I would never disrespect anyone’s child in any way and anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE BeyoncĂ©. My comments have been in complete shambles.. yes I am human too and yes I do make mistakes.. But all this negativity and death wishes are quite a lot.. Definitely a lesson learned from here forth.. Again, on behalf of MYSELF, my sincerest apologies ❤️ #BeyHive
BET executive Stephen G. Hill also expressed his remorse for the “stupid, unthoughtful” joke and defended Karrueche. He said that an apology had been issued to BeyoncĂ© and Jay Z and that “punitive damages” had been taken against those responsible.

Ne-Yo’s Ex-FiancĂ©e Monyetta Talks Public Breakup, Lessons on Love and Why She’s Still Living With Ne-Yo.

Monyetta Shaw and Ne-Yo
Monyetta Shaw may just have found the perfect balance between righteous and ratchet.
Prior to dating Ne-Yo, a lot of people had no clue who Monyetta Shaw was, and even still, the mother of Ne-Yo’s two kids remained pretty lowkey up until her debut on this season’s VH1 Atlanta Exes show. But if you think the former Lousiana radio personality is here to drag her ex on the show, think again. Although Ne-Yo broke it off with Monyetta (after admitting to his struggle to remain monogamous) he’s moved on to be in another relationship with model Crystal Renay and has been pretty open about the relationship while still sharing a home with Monyetta and the kids. This usually would be enough to drive any sane woman “Bernadine Harris” crazy, but not Mo.
We recently sat down with the Atlanta Exes star and she revealed that she remains optimistic about her “situationship” with Ne-Yo, while encouraging the “movement” that exes can in fact be amicable and co-parent in peace. She also reveals how the two met, why they still live together and if she is dating other people.
Catch a few highlights below:
On Meeting Ne-Yo
I was in my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana. He was at a concert. A Jamie Foxx concert. I was just breaking up with a current boyfriend. And it’s funny because I was supposed to take him to the concert. But God has a good ol’ sense of humor and he knows what he is doing. So I wasa radio personality in my hometown, and a mutual friend of mine told me that Ne-Yo was interested [in me]. This was after the concert and I was like ‘Oh whatever,’ I was still dealing with my ex but [Ne-Yo] kept calling. He was so persistent.

Long story short, two weeks later I called him back or something and I was driving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana… he was actually filming a movie in Los Angeles, and the rest of it in Baton Rouge and I was on my way there and I totally believe in fate and everything happening for a reason. So when he told me that [he'd be in town], we both promised each other that we would go out to dinner. And we did. And it was like an instant connection. We became best friends. And the rest was history after that, honestly.
On How She Would Describe Ne-Yo
He’s a great father. He’s a gentleman. Not the perfect gentle man, but he’s a gentleman. [laughs] I will say that. We always have a great time. And the thing about it, both of us are extremely goofy. We always crack jokes and do silly dances and stuff. Just acting crazy and being ourselves. And that’s the beautiful thing about it. Being 100 percent ourselves.

On How She Felt About Ne-Yo Announcing Their Break Up on Instagram
I was shocked. We discussed him going to his publicist and making it known that way. However, he felt to do the latter part. Now it’s okay. But back then, I was a bit shocked.

Ugh, it wouldn’t have been my choice. Let me just say that. But living in the same house, when he comes home, we have to hash it out and talk about it. Like normal couples do. You talk about it, you go back and forth. It was actually- people might imagine screaming matches but it wasn’t [that]. It was like, ‘Look, I’m talking to you. What’s going on? Let’s figure this out. Can we fix this or can we not?’
I was basically fighting for my family.

On Why They Broke Up
He was honest enough to let me know that he wasn’t ready for monogamy at the time and you know, I couldn’t do anything but respect it.

It was a bit much for me. My parents, they were together for 43 years. That’s all I know. So it felt like, ‘OMG, what do I do? I don’t know how to operate in this space.’ So I did a lot of praying and lot of soul searching and you know, had to remain strong for my kids. Because at the end of the day, I am the example. And they are facing me every day. And mommy doesn’t have time to break down and don’t have time to- you know- I gotta be strong. So yeah, I wasn’t too happy about [the breakup] but time heals all things.
I definitely appreciate his honesty. He’s always been brutally honest, eventually [laughs]. But he’s a good dude. I see his potential. He’s awesome- he really is. I have nothing but positive things to say. And like I mentioned, he’s a great father.
On How She Feels About Ne-Yo Being in a New Relationship (with model Crystal Renay)
I really don’t think much of it right now. When it gets serious, that’s when I will dedicate the time to think about it because we have two little kids so it’s kind of not just us. So that person has to be amazing because they’re little kids and they’re so impressionable.

I can’t even think about [Crystal] right now. But when it gets to that point, we’ll cross that point. But I wish him the best.
On Still Living with Ne-Yo
I think it kind of made it harder in the beginning. However, time heals all things. And he’s away more than he’s here. And he has a good heart and he’s a good person. Like I said, everyone has their vices, you know? But he’s a good dude overall and that’s how we’re able to be friends.

I like to say that we’re starting a movement. We’re not going to be the stereotypical ‘I hate my baby daddy. I hate my baby momma’ thing. You’re not going to see that. We’re going to start this movement that we can all get along and we can be classy about the situation and be a great example to our kids. That’s what it’s about at the end of the day.
Keep watching the show. Some things may change. I don’t know. It’s a process. It just made sense for us at the time [to live together]. We always knew it wouldn’t be forever and eventually we’re both going to move on and figure things out. It’s just temporary.
On If She’d Ever get Back with Ne-Yo
I’ll always have that love for him. He’s a good guy. But at the place where he’s at and I’m at, it doesn’t make sense right now. Only God knows.

You know, people grow apart. People change. Like I said, only time will tell. I think I will forever have a special, special place in my heart for him. I know that will never change. I’m open to the possibility of love, whatever that may look like. If God [will] send the right person to me. Now if God works with him and sends him back, that’s on God. And if not, I’m cool with that. Who knows? Right now I’m good and I wish him the best. It’s all love.
On If it’s Difficult to Date After Ne-Yo/Dating Anyone now
I am just now ok- it’s been my process. The world is going to go with me on this process. It’s a difficult process. However, I’m just now open to the idea. You have to be open to it. For so long, I didn’t even see anybody else. I’m sure a cute guy would pass me all the time but I wouldn’t notice them because I just wasn’t in that space… But I will say I’m single and ready to mingle. Not dating yet but I’m open to the possibility. It would take a strong confident man, it’s not just me anymore- who has to be able to love me and my kids.

I was actually the only one on the show that wasn’t married. I was engaged. So I was looking forward to [marriage]. So dating scares me. But I’m gong to trust the process and if I meet that amazing man, I’m just going to go for it. I’m ready now. I wasn’t before but I can definitely say that I’m ready now.
On Why She Decided to Do the Show
I love how positive it is. I love that they don’t [do bashing] and it just shows powerful women moving on. So I felt that it would be a great fit for me. I’ve been approached by other reality shows based in Atlanta and it just wasn’t a good fit for me. So that’s why I definitely went with Atlanta Exes.

On What to Expect from her on the Show
I’m the most recent breakup so some days are like ‘Yess,’ others day I’m going to be crying. You just have to watch. Every woman is going to be able to relate after going through a breakup. Just experiencing life and being strong and moving on. Everyday life. I have two small kids so you kind of get to get a glimpse of them. Me focusing on my charity work and my businesses. I own a company called ‘The Evan Grace Group.’ I have a children’s book, ‘Adventures of ‘Maddy,’ based off my daughter Madeline.

[I'm] just moving on and getting to that space. That happy space and finding me again and understanding what it is.
On Advice for Dating a Famous Man
Amazing strength. Being that backbone to him. Being his serenity is so important. And I’ll throw this back in- while still loving yourself. And set some time for yourself. Because a lot of us, we’re so caught up in it. Just be there, be supportive. But don’t lose yourself in the men. Especially powerful men, successful men, it’s so easy to let that happen and then God forbid it doesn’t work out and then you have to kind of start over.

On the Biggest lesson she’s learned on love
Just love. Love with all your heart. Love yourself first. Because who knows what’s going to happen? Don’t have any regrets and don’t hold back. Even being hurt and going through heartbreak, you still live and you’re living life and you just gotta go into it full throttle. Love yourself first and just be open to love.
Monyetta is definitely built Ford-tough. It’s good to see a former couple that is not bashing each other in the media. We wish the best for these two, even if just friends!
