Who else but the high priestess of fashion to shine on the red carpet in this stellar Prada number all complete with a white fur jacket?
Cate Blanchett looks regal on any given day effortlessly, but with this McQueen gown, she takes up royalty a few notches higher. All hail Queen Kate!
January Jones has stepped up her game since 2011 and looks positively radiant in this yellow panelled column dress with black detailing on the bodice. We like!
Glee’s gorgeous girl Lea Michele is all grown up and it shows in her recent red carpet choices. This one’s no exception and she is sizzling.
Ooh lala! The night’s best dressed pair? We dare say it is! Never thought jade and fuchsia would go so well together, what do we know?
Backless gown with an itsy bitsy back split – by Grammy 2012 standards, Rihanna’s baring far less flesh but looking absolutely sexilicious.
Pretty in pastel pink Vera Wang, Paula Patton shows us how to rock one of this season’s key trends on the red carpet.
Hair scraped back, dainty diamond earrings, Sofia Vergara shows the rest how to do metallics in style. Less is more here, but what more would you need when blessed with those deadly curves?
If it ain’t broke… Solange knows she rocks in mellow yellow, we know that she rocks in yellow mellow, so why not a yellow mellow two piece with peplum perfection?
Fashion’s new it girl Rooney Mara doesn’t put a foot wrong in the style stakes and this floor-length gown is mere proof to that effect. Dark and smouldering!
Bee Shaffer rocks this dark blue and white Erdem number like it’s no one’s business. And the scraped back hair is just right, too!
Amber Heard can’t exactly match Sofia Vergara’s assets, but she does justice to this fishtail burgundy Zac Posen. The golden tan doesn’t hurt either!
Red hot Monique Lhullier number and that pixie hair cut. Amaze!
Indigo and velvet are two words you wouldn’t expect to find describing a gown on a summer red carpet, but Ivanka works it and we can’t argue, indigo velvet stops feeling so wintery with this floor length show stopper.
Amy looks radiant in this ivory floaty gown but we can’t help but think how it would turn out if she’d swept her hair back. Still FAB though.
Some metallic gowns are more equal than others, especially when done the right way. Jessica Paré in exhibit A, case in point.
If we dazzled just so on the red carpet, we would hugging the designer so dearly too!
Good things come in threes and here’s the last but not least gold gown rocked here by Donatella Versace. Nope, can’t fault it! Thank goodness she hasn’t matched her skin to her dress either.
Lala oooh lala! She steals the show in that electric floor sweeper hugging her curves in all the right places. We like!
The In-betweeners
At first glance, there seems to be nothing wrong with this floor-length black gown, but the more you look, the more it seems to dwarf Amy’s figure. Not too bad, but not FAB either.
And yet another floor-length black gown with feather fishtail detail. While the shape works for Beyonce, al the feathers, cut outs and beading together becomes a bit of a clutter.
Leighton Meester does a Beyonce on us in a sheer figure hugging number – looks gold, but not FAB.
While we don’t mind the top half, the layering on the bottom half is making Hilary look frumpy, hence killing our joy at spotting a red number on the red carpet. We like the side-swept Old Hollywood glam waves though, Hilary!
And yet another dress that doesn’t ostensibly offend but somehow falls short off the FAB mark.
We can’t fault the dress, neither can we fault Julianne Hough’s figure, but our dream red carpet model for Carolina Herrera gown will always be Sofia Vergara, hence this look is stuck right here in the middle. Oh and, an up do would have worked better with that gown, Jules!
A for effort, but certainly not for age-appropriate. While the rest of the dress is absolutely gorgeous, the low cut doesn’t do it for us.
Good to see Carey Mulligan take a style risk; wish it had paid off. She looks midway between a disco ball and a scaly mermaid.
We get the dress, Lana, but what’s with the cape?
Smokey eyes. Check. Plum lips. Check. Side-swept hair. Check. Jessica Alba exudes old school Hollywood glam. Shame while inoffensive, the bronze Grecian gown looks a little too much like foil for our liking.
Lovely dress in a lovely colour, but somehow it just drains Emma Roberts, making her looked washed out.
Brooke, you could have done better than blah. Nice walking stick though!
The Drab
Kudos to Vera Wang rocking Vera Wang on the red carpet, but flesh and bones not a fab look. Someone feed her some cake.
This pastel floral Tony Burch number may be a fashionable nod to season’s trends but it doesn’t do much for Rashida Jones’s figure, and she looks as if she is at a garden wedding instead of the Met red carpet.
Plastic not so fantastic. It seems Kristen’s top and bottom – apart from both being PVC – sing from different hymn sheets. The result? A cacophony of colours and patterns. And as interesting as the shoes are, paired with the whole look, they look ridiculous.
Vintage may be the in trend that seems set to stay put, it doesn’t always mean one has to look like they’re dressed for a fancy dress party. Coco Rocha here shows us how it shouldn’t be done. While the yellow suit with embroidery could have been fine with a different top, this colour clashed pink top just doesn’t cut it!
M.I.A. looks ready for a Friday night out with the girls. Enough said.
Someone tell Anja less is more; failing that, hire Riri to tutor her in the art of flashing flesh in style. No, we don’t mean street style.
Princess Leah is in the house. Need we say more?
Kirsten Dunst seems to have mistaken the Met Gala for a Santa Claus convention.
It was fab while it lasted on paper; in fabric and on the body, it goes straight in at drab making Jamie King look like she has draped herself in granny’s old drapes.
