With race relations on high in this country, it’s refreshing to see Sesame Street teach children how to love themselves, especially their skin color.
In one of the most precious video clips you may see all week, the ever-gorgeous Lupita Nyong’o visits Sesame Street once again, and this time it’s to join Elmo in teaching kids to love the skin they’re in.
In the video, Lupita teaches Elmo all about skin, what it is and how it functions, before Elmo stops, touches her hand and says, “Elmo sees that Ms. Lupita’s skin is a beautiful brown color,” showing all kids that black is beautiful, too. She also teaches him to love his red skin, which is covered by fur.
