According to the AP, prosecutors offered Brown a deal to plead guilty to simple assault and time served in his Washington assault case. But despite negotiations, defense lawyers and prosecutors weren’t able to agree on what happened outside the W hotel.
“They wanted him to read from a script that wasn’t true,” said Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos.
Brown appeared in court on Wednesday wearing white jeans, a leather jacket, and a black tie. He was greeted by fans as he made his way out of the courtroom.
Brown was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault in October after a man accused the singer of hitting him when he tried to get in a photo with Brown.
He was released from jail earlier this month after serving 108 days for a probation violation in the Rihanna assault case.
His trial is scheduled for September 8.
