Rihanna refuses to be censored. The risk-tasking fashionista stepped out nearly naked to the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards at New York’s Lincoln Center on Monday.
She turned heads in a sheer sparkly dress that exposed her breasts with only a nude G-string underneath. The custom-made show-stopper was designed by Adam Selman and covered with 216,000 Swarovski crystals.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour presented the “Stay” singer with the 2014 Fashion Icon Award. Previous honorees have included Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, and Johnny Depp.
“Growing up fashion was a defense mechanism,” said Rihanna while accepting the honor. “As a child I remember saying: she can beat me but she can’t beat my outfit.”
Solange attended her first red carpet event since the infamous elevator video, rocking a sequined Calvin Klein dress and big hair, while Jennifer Hudson was chic in a black gown by KaufmanFranco.
