This past weekend, some of reality TV and rap’s finest came together for the taping of the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards — and it all made for a pretty interesting green carpet!
Girls like Teyana Taylor, Mila J, Tiny, and Mimi Faust showed that you can never go wrong with black and some dope accessories, while Lil Mama went for a more risky half-pant/half-dress look and Keyshia Cole showed a little stomach in a 2-piece.
Other celebs that took to the carpet before the “Super Bowl of Rap” included Kandi Burruss, French Montana, YG, Iman Shumpert, Bow Wow, T.I. and Nelly.
Catch a few pics below:
YG looked more like he was going to a cookout than an award show as he rocked a casual pant and tee combo with New Balance sneakers. Meanwhile Sisterhood of Hop Hop star Brianna Perry gave the carpet a little personality in a late ’80s to early ’90s-inspired outfit.
Joseline Hernandez was spotted making a grand entrance before catching up with Stevie J (who may have been one of the best dressed men there in a suit and tie).
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker were matched up in black, white, and silver.
Lil Terrio was killin’ ‘em in all white, and Lil Boosie let his Jesus piece do all of the talking while hanging out backstage.
Bow Wow is the only one out of this bunch who actually looked like he could have been going somewhere special.
T.I. mixed patterns and kept his socks high, while Nelly opted for a track suit and Jordans.
French Montana posed solo with rumors that he and Khloé Kardashian are over, and The Game star Wendy Raquel Robinson looked fierce in House of Chapple from head to toe.
2 Chainz had his whole family in tow, including his mother and girlfriend Kesha.
Rapper Young Thug brought his mother as his date. Awwwwww!
Teyana Taylor’s red carpet pre-show ensemble might have proven to be too hot for her! After posting up with her boo Iman Shumpert on the carpet before the show, she was spotted showing off her figure backstage in a sexy white dress.
And here’s a show spoiler alert!
It’s been 20 YEARS since the remix of Brandy’s hit single “I Wanna Be Down” hit the streets, and to celebrate, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Yo-Yo joined her on stage for an amazing performance. Now that’s major female empowerment in Hip Hop.
