It was a big night for the YMCMB family. The hip-hop crew was
honored during a star-studded evening at the 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop
Awards at the Manhattan Center in New York City on Thursday night.
Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams were named BMI
Icons. The brothers, who co-founded Cash Money Records in 1991,
received an all-star tribute, which included performances by Kevin
Rudolf, DJ Khaled, Mystikal, Future, Curren$y, Ace Hood, Busta Rhymes,
Turk, Mannie Fresh, and Juvenile, who performed his classic “Back That
Azz Up.”
“I dedicate my soul and my life and I wouldn’t be standing here if it
wasn’t for Dwayne motherfuckin’ Carter,” said Birdman as Lil Wayne
stood behind him. “Once thing when you see with us, you see loyalty.”
Nicki Minaj and Benny Bla
nco shared the award for Songwriter of the
Year, while “Starships” earned Song of the Year honors. Trina paid
homage to her fellow femcee by covering “Moment 4 Life.”
Hit-Boy took home Producer of the Year and Machine Gun Kelly won the BMI Social Star Award.
